MARTHA STURDY

West Vancouver Art Museum

A thematically-linked suite of sculptural work made from wood found in the forest on her property in Pemberton BC, All Fall Down embodies Martha Sturdy’s sentiments regarding climate change, extreme weather, and forest fires. Graphically stark, Sturdy responds to ideas of interconnection between nature and culture as not mutually exclusive but deeply entangled with each other in myriad ways and represents a culmination of her art and design career, revealing an underlying tension she has always balanced.
