KELLY LYCAN

Burnaby Art Gallery

Kelly Lycan examines images to make sculptures and installations, blurring distinctions between modes as she works with a multitude of materials, including found ephemera and almost discarded objects that previously existed with no artistic intention. In her exhibition, The Fireplace, Lycan uses the varied histories of the century home of the Burnaby Art Gallery as material as well, re-animating the rooms with her installations, conjuring imaginaries of what the house and rooms used to be with what they may have held, considering everything to be useful.
