Discovering the Okanagan

Okanagan travel book covers usually show hikers and skiers kicking it up in the great outdoors. This, however, is not a typical tourist guide, but a quite personal introduction to the region, so deserved a different approach. The Okanagan from a native Okanaganite's perspective as it were.

The cover image is from the "Ticker" series (that's Penticton to out-of-towners) by photographer Alan Hoffman. With the photograph's clarity and haze, "Peach," an ice cream stand on the beach of Lake Okanagan, evokes a touching nostalgia for an Okanagan icon, both real and imaginary.
