Jewel Box Garden

Thomas Hobbs' vision for this book was sparkly. He wanted the book to reflect "your garden as a jewel box full of beautiful plant treasures". He talked about Bvlgari and Tiffany's. This opened up a number of possibilities, which were finally settled with a 5th-colour, metallic silver. The pages with a grouping of plant photographs always have a silver background from which the lush photographs glow. The text pages are always white and spare, the text also printed in metallic silver. The text read as a series of musings and inspirations, so instead of treating it as a narrative, it was broken up so readers could dip in, absorb, look at the photographs, dip in to text again.... Flipping through the book, the photographic pages separate out from the text pages in a rhythm of colour, silver and white.
