The cover went through a number of evolutions as editorial and marketing sorted out their visions for the book - use the illustrations to keep the book coherent throughout or fit neatly within the travel genre with a photographic cover? The final decision was a photographic cover, using this warm sun-dappled photograph. The illustrations were used on the back cover and flaps.
