Global Heritage Fund

Global Heritage Fund (GHF) is a non-profit international conservancy which protects and preserves important cultural heritage sites, ancient townscapes and major archaeological sites threatened by neglect, destruction, mass tourism, and unplanned urban sprawl in developing countries.

The material developed for GHF - brochure, book and website - had to make the threats to these sites explicit and clarify the GHF methodology for preservation of the sites. Instead of an in-your-face visceral approach, we chose to balance the heat of the message with a cooler visual approach. A single photograph - a buddha head squeezed by the roots of a tree - was used as a cover image for both the book and the brochure, graphically illustrating the sometimes unexpected sources of stress for these sites.

The book and the website expand upon the information presented in the brochure. The book especially was an enormous undertaking. Histories, significance, photographs, maps and timelines of 84 endangered sites were presented.
