The lives and careers of Nixie Barton and Grant Leier are intimately connected yet their art is stylistically very different. Both painters, Grant’s work is graphic and illustrative whereas Nixie is more impressionist. When the couple bought a country property, they let loose their creative energy on the landscape, creating a garden which has become so noted it’s now open to the public.

As much a memoir as an art catalogue, the challenge of this book was to capture the vivaciousness and individuality of both artists within a calming, coherent structure; allowing the vibrancy of the art to shine, while not overwhelming the reader with visual cacophany.
